"Ye are my friends, if ye do whatever I command you" John 15:14.


Friendship and companionship is a divine arrangement. Loneliness is a disaster in all ramifications. It heralds anything negative and destructive. We are not here to discuss loneliness in this piece but friendship.


Every sound mind yeams for someone in whom he can put all his trust in. He simply wants a person who can permanently be there for him, no matter the circumstances. Everyone needs a personality who easily understands his affairs and possibly profers a positive and right solution to it.


Sad enough, many people who yearn for such a fellow finds disappointment in getting anyone who can fit into such position as a friend. There are others who think that they have found such quality in certain people, they only end up in gross regrets. They lick their fingers endlessly. Are you a member of any of these two groups? If so, you will understand what I mean better.


The question now arises, "Do you now need to live the rest of your life alone, bearing the burdens of life alone? Do you need a permanent friend in whom you can trust, no matter the weather of life? Do you need a friend who is ever ready to render the right help in the right place in the right moment without any let down? Are you interested in a friend who knows how to navigate the sea of your life without sinking your boat?


If the answer is "Yes", then you can find all the right and appropriate qualities of a good friend (the best friends for that matter) in Jesus Christ only. He is the Alpha and Omega, i.e the beginning and ending of your life. He has promised never to leave nor forsake you, no matter the situation or circumstances.


To commence this friendship calls for certain conditions. Every relationship has a thing that connects two people together. The words of Amos 3:3 says it succinctly,

"Can two walk together, except they be agreed."


You may then ask, "What is the basis of agreement on which you can build a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ?" You are right to do so! The point of agreement is "love". Every relationship not built on love has no roots and any little wind can uproot it. The fall will be great.
How has He demonstrated His own love?


I) He laid His own life down for your own life that you bear not the judgment that you deserve over your inherited and past personal wrong doings. In Christ words, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13.


II) He also beckons to you to come to Him for rest to abandon every burden of your life. He wants to be your Burden Bearer. He grants rest and wants you to have it.
Are you prepared for His loving friendship?


All He expects from you is to "do whatever " He commands you. Follow only His directives and your ways will be prosperous. This is in line with His declaration in John 15:7 thus,

"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."


In a time like this, when there is Coronavirus pandemic, new human rules and regulations flood every nation of the world : washing of hands, do not touch your nose, eyes, mouth etc; schools are closed, public gathering is forbidden, kissing, hugging and handshaking are outlawed because of this disease.


The only friend you can kiss, embrace and shake hands with without violating any government law is Jesus Christ. In relationships today, distance is expected to be maintained to avoid contacting COVID19.

Not so with Jesus Christ, you must be closer to Him like never before. His love is ever ready.
Do you know this? If you are a true friend of the Lord, obeying all His commandments, you will decree what you want on Corona virus and He will grant it to you. Be closer to your friend these days when it is recommended by government of nations that people should avoid each other like plagues.

Stay blessed and prepared for the coming of the Lord.
