THE SABBATH
Exodus 20:8-11
(8) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. (9) Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: (10) But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: (11) For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
The Sabbath is not a minor ceremonial regulation that rarely affects our relationship with God as most assume, rather It is one of the most important of the Ten Commandments, specifically of the worship of God. The first four commandments are concerning our relationship and worship of God, and the final six concerns our relationship with our fellow brothers and sisters.
God rested on the seventh day and blessed and hallowed it as His Holy day, not to be defiled by working, shopping, buying & selling, social and sports activities, going out to a restaurant, etc.; Genesis 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. The fourth commandment is the only commandment which tells us to REMEMBER!! What are we to remember? That God is our creator, and this is the day He set aside for us to rest and worship and commune with Him.
There is not enough space for me to go into a detailed dialogue as to why the seventh day Sabbath is so important to God in our relationship with Him. There are those teaching, keep any day, or no day it’s not important, Jesus did away with those requirements. I will just give you a few verses of scripture to reinforce God’s will that we observe His Sabbath as a Holy day, not a day of personal respite. We are in the final days of earths history and there is very little time left to get right with God and become obedient servants to His will, and that begins by keeping all 10 of His commandments
Isaiah 56:6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the SABBATH from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
Isaiah 58:13,14 If thou turn away thy foot from the SABBATH, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the SABBATH a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: 14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Isaiah 66:23And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one SABBATH to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
Exodus 31:16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the SABBATH, to observe the SABBATH throughout their generations, for a PERPETUAL COVENANT.17 It is a sign(Mark) between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
And according to Gal.3:28,29 we are all the children of Israel
Exodus 31:17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
Matthew 5:18-19 For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
The Ten Commandments are a package and cannot be separated in a pick and choose fashion. James tells us if you break one law, you break them all. Once the package is broken up, it loses its effectiveness. James 2:10 “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”
Jesus said not one jot, or one tittle shall pass from the law till heaven and earth pass away. The last I checked I’m still on solid ground. Man changed God’s laws to suit his own agenda with the major push by Constantine 1 and his Edit of 321 AD, switching the Sabbath to Sunday, which is the worship day of the Sun God “Ra”, of which Constantine was a Sun God worshipper.
“On the venerable Day of the sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. In the country, however, persons engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits: because it often happens that another Day is not so suitable for grain sowing or for vine planting: lest by neglecting the proper moment for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost” Constantine’s edict of 321 AD
Following this edict from Constantine 1, the Catholic Church Council of Laodicea around 364 AD instituted the following ordinance:
“Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday (Sabbath), but shall work on that Day: but the Lord’s Day, they shall especially honour; and as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day. If, however, they are found Judaizing, they shall be shut out from Christ.”
With what authority and where does the Bible state that the Catholic Church has the authority to shut one out from Jesus Christ?
Folks, God is about to bring judgement against this nation for our sins and idolatry, ( read Ezekiel 20) I plead with you to please study your Bible for the truth not an agenda or a tradition of ways. There is so much deceptons being taught in the churches today, and untold numbers of unsuspecting people are being led straight to the lake of fire with Satan and his demons. Wake up and read the instructions God gave us before it is too late.
God’s way is the only way and I fear there will be many disappointed Christians when they experience the following;
“There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.” Luke 13:28
I believe God is giving us another warning, through this virus, and this may be our last, and if you feel close to God, then get closer.
May God add a blessing to the going forth of His word that many may respond
