Encouragement
There are NO vacations from the school of prayer and encouragement!
INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to “The Overcomer Case Files”, a regular bulletin composed and provided for all Prayer and Encouragement Coaches. All one needs to serve as a Prayer and Encouragement Coach is a desire for God to use you on your job, home, or neighborhood. The fields are ripe, and the harvest is out there. Pray and BE a worker to help gather in the harvest of souls in these dark times.
Being a Prayer and Encouragement Coach IS an honor, and a labor of love. It is an easy means of becoming a member, but joining up is no picnic. These are the people who are on the front lines, and WILL be sought out by others IF life is getting hard, and the ‘rough side of the mountain’ seems to be a regular part of one’s daily journey for a short season. The school of prayer and encouragement is a lifetime vocation from which one will NEVER graduate and should be able to share and pass on to others.
PRAYER--THE REALITIES:
The Prayer and Encouragement Coach SHOULD be a Christian. Why? Well, if you are going to start your car, you usually have a battery. IF that battery is NOT connected to the starting system--no matter the good intentions--the car will NOT start! Thus, he/she should be connected to the source that IS responsible for the answers to prayer, God himself. Those who pray should pray in the name of Jesus. In my view, and by practical experience: There is NO shame to pray in Jesus’ name.
*The Saint can pray to be reminded to fear the Lord! Ps. 119:120
*The Saint can pray for safety! Ps. 119:117
*The Saint can pray for protection! Ps. 119:114
ENCOURAGEMENT--THE JOYS:
In the Book of Ruth, there are four chapters dedicated to encouragement in difficult, if not downright disastrous circumstances. In Chapter 1 (KJV) we first meet Naomi, an older woman who has been up the ‘rough side’ of the mountain. She was obedient to her husband, as he moved the family to a new town to escape hart times. Over the course of the years, Naomi lost her husband, and both of her grown sons. She felt discouraged, but she still hung on to her God. Naomi bid her two daughters in law farewell. One left; the other (Ruth) stayed. Ruth’s staying was not only a testimony to Naomi’s testimony and walk in faith; but Ruth came out of a pagan background into the family of Jesus Christ IN hard times. Sometimes, to be a good encourager, one may need to focus on the joy that is brought by the pain. You are not ignoring the pain, but seeing the sunshine from behind dark clouds.
