We Need To Find Out And Pin Down The Sin Within Us
The earth is the Lord’s and all that dwell therein and He rules over them in righteousness and holiness and desires them whom He has entrusted with various responsibilities to do the same: administer with righteousness and holiness.
“Now it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the Lord to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem.”
Jeremiah 36:9 (NKJV)
When God was angry with His people for their evil deeds, He sent a warning note through Prophet Jeremiah with an intention that His people may repent after hearing the evil the Lord intends to bring upon them as a result of their sin, however chapter 36 of Jeremiah tells us that the King Jehoiakim ignored the warnings of the Lord and burned the scroll in which the warning was inscribed.
Rebellion against God has never prevailed and shall never prevail. The Lord reigns over all and is the Sovereign Lord forever.
Even during the time of pestilence and sorrow, if we rend our hearts before the Lord, heed to His warnings and look to Him for mercy and forgiveness with a true and repentant heart, the Lord will withhold His anger and will have mercy towards us.
When the people of God committed sin, the Lord sent a plague amongst them, and the plague continued to consume precious souls, yet it came to an end, and when was that?
“Now when Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose from among the congregation and took a javelin in his hand; and he went after the man of Israel into the tent and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her body. So the plague was stopped among the children of Israel. And those who died in the plague were twenty-four thousand.”
Numbers 25:7-9 (NKJV)
We need to find out and pin down the sin within us so the anger of the Lord may be stayed and His judgement revoked.
Even if we try with the best of our ability, this will always remain true…
“…and be sure your sin will find you out.” Numbers 32:23 (NKJV)
May this words encourage us to return to the Lord.
“For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel:
“In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not,”
Isaiah 30:15 NKJV
