Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. John 1:40 NIV

The other of the two disciples of John the Baptist who followed Christ was most likely John, the author of this Gospel. John does not refer to himself by name in his gospel message.

Some might find this and following verses to be contradictory to the calling to apostleship of the two sets of brothers as they were by the shore, having been fishing. This is not the case though, as the verses in this chapter deal with introductory meetings the Messiah had with men who would become His disciples. It can be easy to make false conclusions in reading the gospels, as they were written by different men with different audiences. The Word of God is always truth. Seek assistance if something contained within seems contradictory to you.
