Solving the Mystery of Genesis Chapter One and Verse One

Introduction

The thoughts in this article taken from my book (Adam Guilty or Not Guilty, The True Story of The Man in the Garden). ­­­­­­­

There's an unsettled disagreement between the Scientist, Bible Scholars, and Christian theologians. The dispute has to do with, rather, Genesis Chapter one and verse one is an account of the beginning of the existence of heaven and earth or not.

Scientists have calculated that Earth is 4.54 billion years old, with an error range of 50 million years, taken from space.come. While Christian Bible Scholars and Christian theologians say, the age of the earth is somewhere around six thousand years old; gathering their information from bible genealogies.   

But what is the truth? Jesus said if we continue in his word, we will know the truth, and the knowledge of the truth will set us free. There is only one source of truth and only one means of being set free permanently, and that's source is the knowledge of God; It’s the knowledge of  God as we find in what’s written, but what we know must be an accurate account. The truth is the knowledge of God without error. If there is a single element of error, it's not the truth because there is no error in God. The one and the only way to know the facts is through the leading of the Spirit of truth. Jesus said, when the Spirit of truth has come, he will guide us into all truth. 

In this writing, we will examine Genesis chapter one and verse one in search of the truth. And through the guidance of the Holy Spirit of God, we will know the truth and nothing but the truth, so help us, God.

In The Beginning

In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1).

Before we start, we need to point that the first two verses in the book of Genesis are essential n the Bible in reference to our understanding of the Bible as a whole. How we view verses one and two of Genesis cast light on how we see the bible from start to end. It also determines how we view the entire redemption story and our salvation.

We must  and understand that a theory is not the truth and it cannot take the place of knowing the facts, But this is what took place; in verse two, we have a theory because the men who took the responsibility of distributing the truth to God’s people did not know, and instead of looking to the Holy Spirit for his guidance, they gave a theory.T

he reason for giving the theory to cover for verse two is due to their not knowing nor understanding how a fresh and newly made earth ended up empty, and a worthless thing; if you look up the Hebrew words, you will see that that’s what the terms form and void means. They either could not see it, or they just refused to accept that verse two is a result of what God did in verse one.

What we want to know is, does Genesis chapter one and verse one speaks of the beginning of the existence of heaven and earth or not. Let’s look at verse one of Genesis chapter one.

In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1).

One of the problems is in the translation of the verse. We need to understand what happens and why It happens. The translators had a problem with understanding verse one because there were not enough words in the sentence for clarification. When God speaks, God does not need a lot of words to say what he wants to say. The original writer dating back thousands of years, only wrote down the words as they were given to him by God, and this made it difficult for the translators to translate an accurate account. He did not have the writer of the original manuscript to question, so, instead, he gives his interpretation of what the writing says; he did this by adding words to the original script for the sake of clarification. Thus, instead of having a pure translation, we have a translated interpretation of the original.

What we will look at this verse with and without the words added by the translator. We do this so that we can allow the Holy Spirit to do what only he can do, guide us, into the truth.

With Added Words

In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1).

Without Added Words

beginning, God created heaven and earth. (Genesis 1:1).

Notice: we removed the first two words, ‘in the’, and the two ‘the,’ that follows, leaving us with six words instead of the ten. The first two words added by the translator were not needed, and instead of leading us to the truth, they led us away from the fact.

To say in the beginning, it automatically leads to in the direction of the verse speaking of the creation of the beginning of the existence of heaven and earth, but is that what the verse is saying? We will find our answer as we look closer look at the word ‘beginning.’

The word ‘beginning’ is the Hebrew word ZIY@X, meaning the first, in place, time, order or rank, and specifically, a firstfruit. If I were making plans to perform a task and sat down to put my plan together, wanting to do things in the order in which they are done, I would start with the first thing, which leads to the second thing and so forth.

The word translated from the original manual script does not speak of the beginning of the existence of heaven and earth but instead the order that God performs his work. Before God did anything else, He first created heaven and earth. And when we find out what it means to create here in the text, we will know the cause of verse two.
