He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. John 1:11 NIV
The Old Testament has many prophecies of the coming Messiah. If that were not enough, John the Baptist came as a forerunner for Christ, letting others know that He was coming. Even with all this, His own did not receive Him. Amazing! The Father sent the Son to save us from ourselves, yet the nation to whom He was sent did not recognize Him. Why not? They were looking for a king to free the Israelites from oppression, to be a conqueror. Well, guess what? Jesus was a conqueror. Yes! He conquered sin and death, much more than the conquering of oppressive nations.
I pray that as many as possible receive Christ. Only through Him are salvation and eternal life found!
