The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5 NIV
Jesus Christ, the Word, is the Light of the world. Christ shines in the darkness of this world, the darkness representing evil (sin). Evil cannot extinguish the Light. At best, evil through the Jewish leaders of those days were only able to silence Jesus for three days. Then our Lord gloriously arose from the tomb! Yes, the darkness cannot put out the Light which is Jesus Christ. Christ was before the beginning, and He shall be forever the one true Light! Look to the Light and you shall not remain in darkness!
