He was with God in the beginning. John 1:2 NIV

Consider this to be an enhancement to the initial verse of John’s gospel.

So, what is the importance to this verse? First, it speaks to the existence of a being rather than a thing. See the first word of the verse: He. He does not refer to a thing, but to a being. So, there was a being with God (the Father) prior to the existence of time and creature. This thus speaks to the existence of a second unique, divine being. These are two of the three beings to the oneness which is God.

I know this is hard to understand, but, quite frankly, how can our feeble minds possibly expect to understand God totally? This is far beyond our ability. Yet, it makes it no less true. Some things are meant to be accepted on faith, and this certainly is a very important truth which needs to be accepted.
