And they began to call out to him, “Hail, king of the Jews!” Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him. Mark 15:18-19 NIV
Roman soldiers would not in earnest hail any king other than Caesar. Yet, mockingly they all hailed the king of the Jews. If that wasn’t enough of a mockery, they had to add insult by continually hitting Him on the head and spat on Him. How absolutely degrading. And then kneeling in a mock homage. These soldiers cared not of the mockery they made of the world’s Savior.
What form of persecution do you as a Christian face today? Know that it cannot compare to that which our Lord faced. Live your life for Christ!
