The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called together the whole company of soldiers. Mark 15:16 NIV
As the orders had been given for Jesus to be crucified, the soldiers led Christ away to the Praetorium. A company of soldiers was not a very small group, probably including somewhere between 50 and 100 men. Imagine this many gathered around our Lord, mocking Him.
Today the number of lost souls, many of whom do mock Christ are in danger of facing an eternity of torment. We have been commissioned by our Lord to go out and spread the Good News to the entire world. This is not a task to be taken lightly. We all have ways that we can share the Lord with others, and we need to do such. No punishment which could be inflicted upon us by a multitude can compare with the punishment that those who deny Christ shall face. Be a sharer of Christ’s love with others.

As an aside, a cohort this size had been destroyed during one of the Jew's many early "mini" revolts in Jerusalem, and with help being no closer than the 10th Roman Legion stationed at Syria, I can well imagine that Pontius Pilate had that in the back of his mind when his soldiers were treating our Lord so brutally.
