Then some stood up and gave this false testimony against him: “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with human hands and in three days will build another, not made with hands.’” Yet even then their testimony did not agree. Mark 14:57-59 NIV
Since the leaders could not make up any false allegations against the Lord due to lack of agreement, they chose instead to alter a comment which He had made about the temple. They added words which our Lord had not uttered. Unfortunately, they did not understand the temple which Christ spoke of as being His body.
People will alter the words of others to accomplish that which they wish, falsifying what the individual had truly said. Look around you and you will see it quite prevalent in society today. Instead of seeking truth what is sought is that which the person or group desires. A nation which seeks not the truth is a nation in grave danger. Pray for our country. Pray for all souls. Pray that the truth becomes that which is sought. Christ spoke the truth and see what it got Him, crucified. He was obedient to the will of the Father. We must be obedient to the will of God.
