Why Was Jesus Born During The Night?

Have your ever wondered why our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ was born during the night?

 I wish to offer the following as answers to this question.

 First, our Lord came into a world full of darkness, the darkness of sin. Sin seeks darkness as to avoid being noticed. John 3:19-20 NIV tell us “This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.” Christ, who is the light of the world came into the darkness of sin to overcome it.

 Secondly, Jesus came to earth as the deliverer of a new life to those who believe in Him. As the dawn is the beginning of a new day, removing the darkness, so Christ is the beginning of a new life to those who choose to believe in Him. The dark, in which one cannot see is replaced by the awakening of the soul to a life born in Spirit, the Spirit of God sent by the Father through the Son. John 1:4-5 NIV says “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome a it.”

 Third, Christ came to a world filled with cold hearts. The warmth of love of the heavenly Father came through the Son into a world of dark and cold. Live in the light of Christ and feel the true warmth of God’s love. John 3:16 NIV says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

 Finally, Jesus came to us at night to remove the sting of death, a darkness to eternal hope to be the hope for all who believe in Him. Leaving this world is not something that was meant to be a fear, but to be a passing on to a reward prepared for those who love the Lord. John 14:2-3 NIV enlightens us “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

 As Christmas Eve turns into Christmas during this night reflect upon other reasons that come to you as to why our Savior was born at night.
