While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, he asked, “Why do the teachers of the law say that the Messiah is the son of David? David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared: “‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.”’ David himself calls him ‘Lord.’ How then can he be his son?” The large crowd listened to him with delight. Mark 12:35-37 NIV

In Matthew 22:42 the Pharisees in reply to Jesus say that the Messiah is the Son of David. As a man, Jesus was from the lineage of King David. What is though of much more importance is the truth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. People of His time saw Jesus in His humanity and thus thought of Him as the son of Joseph and Mary, having brothers and sisters. It is sad that many think of Jesus only in terms of His humanity. But Jesus did provide many signs to show that He is the Son of God. People then, and today are just blind and cannot see the truth. This is why the message of Jesus Christ must be shared by those of us who belong to Him. No good fate awaits anyone who denies that Christ is the Son of God. May the word you share with others help that the Lord may work in the hearts of many to bring them to Him.
