“He had one left to send, a son, whom he loved. He sent him last of all, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ “But the tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ So they took him and killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard. “What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others. Haven’t you read this passage of Scripture: “ ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes’” Then the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders looked for a way to arrest him because they knew he had spoken the parable against them. But they were afraid of the crowd; so they left him and went away. Mark 12:6-12 NIV
Just as the vineyard owner finally sent his son so that he might receive a share in the fruit of the harvest, so the Heavenly Father sent His Only Son to earth that He might receive fruit from the harvest. And what is the fruit that the Son seeks for the Heavenly Father? It is the heart and soul of those who belong to Him. When we come to Christ, giving our life to Him, we are indwelled with the Holy Spirit, and begin a new life, a life dedicated to the advancement of God’s kingdom. Those thinking that killing the Son to receive the kingdom do not understand who Jesus is, nor the fate they shall face. They want the kingdom of this world. They are blinded and cannot see that which is before them. This is why we must spread the message of the Good News. I pray that we do so that the seed be planted. Then Christ can take charge and more shall hopefully open their hearts to Him. Keep on working for Christ. The harvest is truly ripe for the picking.
