Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve. Mark 11:11 NIV
What thoughts must have been going through our Lord’s mind as He looked around in the temple courts? He knew exactly why He had made this journey to Jerusalem. Right at the moment everything was pretty calm, but it was a calm before the storm. Christ knew everything that was going to happen. He knew the minds of those who planned against Him. He knew of the forthcoming cleansing of the temple court and of the mockery of a trial planned against Him. He was determined to carry out the Father’s will. Jesus knew this was the plan to save mankind from an eternity to be spent in hell. Since it was late, Jesus left the city with His disciples, knowing the plan to kill Him lay right before Him. Jesus had much on His mind these final few days before His crucifixion. No one has ever faced all that our Lord did. What a blessing that He carried out the Father’s plan.
