How Hard It Is

Then Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!” And the disciples were amazed at His words. But Jesus said to them again, “Children, how hard it is to entere the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” They were even more astonished and said to one another, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.” Mark 10:23-27 NIV

Why is it so hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom? Earthly wealth tends to have a mesmerizing affect on the human brain. Earthly wealth causes one to spend their time focusing on their wealth. This inhibits one from giving their life in service to Jesus Christ. One can only have one master. Will to be wealth or will it be Jesus Christ? One can have wealth and be a Christian, but one must be ready to part with any or all of their earthly wealth if called to do so by Christ. One must realize that worldly wealth shall not accompany one upon death. So, do you wish to live for the immediate or for the eternal? Isn’t spiritual wealth much more important than earthly wealth? Depend on God to provide for your needs. If God does choose to bless you with some earthly wealth, be sure to use it wisely, in a Godly manner.
