What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? Mark 8:36-37 NIV
There are some words that the human mind does not comprehend very well. Two words which come to mind are absolutes: always and never. We may think we understand these words, but I am not so sure of that.
Another word I believe we have trouble understanding is the word eternal. Many are fooled about the human soul. It shall exist eternally. The fate of the human soul after the passing away of the body depends on choices we make during our life span. There shall be no eternal sleep. The soul shall either spend eternity in paradise or tormented in hell. There is but one way to secure eternal paradise, and that comes through the acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ as one’s personal Savior. There is no other way to “buy” paradise for the soul. And don’t dare believe that the end of this life is the end of the soul. Why live for the offerings of this world that will not accompany your soul when your body perishes? The offerings of this world only lead to eternal torment. We really need to take Christ at His word here. It is a warning to us. Give up your earthly life as a sacrifice to Christ, living for Him. Your eternal reward for the soul awaits you!
