The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. Mark 6:30-32 NIV
Imagine the hectic life of the disciples. Being with the one who always brought out large crowds did not provide much time for solitude and rest. Jesus was much aware of the need the disciples had for some quiet and rest. They had returned from sharing the Good News with others.
Today the need for quiet and solitude is just as important as when Jesus walked this earth. We are bombarded by earthly things. The advances of technology have continued to increase the amount of “noise”, causing distractions, with lack of rest and quiet often an outcome.
In sharing the Good News, there will come times when we need a “regeneration”. We need to come away with Christ to a place of quiet, where we can rest and listen for that quiet, soft voice to speak to us. We need time alone with our Savior. Through Christ we can be energized spiritually, that we may continue to do work He has for us. Make sure to take time to go away to a place of quiet and rest with the Lord. He waits there for you!
