“Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.” Mark 4:24-25 NIV

Another important message for us from Christ, amplified by the first five words of the message. Just as we use a measuring cup, spoon, yardstick, or other implement to take a measurement, so our words and actions, what motivates our thoughts and actions are being measured. How we live our lives will be used as a measure to us when we face Christ on judgement day. Are our thoughts and actions focused on doing for others, or are they focused on ourselves? Yes, we do need to do things to take care of ourselves and provide for our families, but we must remember that God is the true provider. We need to use that which we are blessed with in a manner which is pleasing to Him. Do you truly seek to please the Lord with what you do and say? Are your thoughts controlled by the Holy Spirit or selfish desires? Sure, we all at times are selfish. We are human. But we must learn to place our focus on doing that which we are directed to do by the Holy Spirit. God must be at the core of our being.
