Like A Mighty Rushing Wind
(Holy Spirit Series)
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Almighty God and the power of the Most High God. Sometimes, He may appear to be as gentle as a dove or as a gentle flowing river but he is actually as fiery and mighty as a Lion. In Acts 2:2, He came like a mighty rushing wind and in Acts 2:3, He came like fire. He is not always gentle as many people think. He is a fierce and mighty personality (the Spirit of the consuming fire and Spirit of the Lion of Judah). He is the God of the holy angels and the Spirit of the Lord of Hosts. I guess you must have heard of the chariots of fire. The Holy Spirit is the grand commander of the chariots of fire. He is the field marshal of the armies of heaven. Though most of the times, He speaks to us with a still gentle voice through our conscience, which is the voice of our spirit man, i.e. through the voice of our hearts but He could also speak to us with an audible voice. In Acts 8:29, He spoke to Phillip saying, “Go near, and join yourself to this chariot”. In Acts 10:19-21, He spoke to Peter saying, “Behold, three men are seeking you. Arise therefore, go down and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them”. And In Acts 13:2, He spoke to some elders of the church saying, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Isaiah 30:21 describes this audible voice by saying, your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.
The Holy Spirit is Almighty and his tangible presence could be very visible. You will know when He shows up. In Acts 4:31, when his tangible presence appeared, the whole building and location shook. In Acts 16:25-26, he also appeared in a strong manner, There was a great earthquake, the prison shook, the doors opened and every one’s bands were loosed. He was the powerful Spirit that was at work during the three-year earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. He worked with Jesus and helped him perform great signs and wonders during his ministry. He is sometimes referred to as the Spirit of Christ (Romans 8:9; Philippians 1:19; 1 Peter 1:11) because He was in Christ and also came from Christ. To avoid confusion, let me use a simple analogy. In the Old Testament, you will see a phrase like the spirit of Elijah (2 Kings 2:15). That phrase wasn’t referring to the human spirit of Elijah but it referred to the anointing upon Elijah. In the same way, the Spirit of Christ refers to the anointing that was at work in the earthly life and ministry of Christ.
The Holy Spirit is not always quiet as many people think. Many believers sometimes prefer church service to be quiet, like a place of meditation. But Church doesn’t have to be like that always because the Holy Spirit is not always quiet. Many times He wants the church to be loud and He leads believers to shout hallelujah, pray aloud and sing highest praises to God.
Sometimes He wants to move around in the church (and in our lives) and demonstrate power. Under his influence, believers shout for joy, dance, prophesy, pray aloud, move around and experience slain in the Spirit encounters etc. He is the power of God (Zechariah 4:6; Acts 1:8; Acts 10:38) and he is the one who operates the nine gifts of the Spirit and other gifts in the church. He is a person and I mean a real person (though he is not human). He is 100% God and 100% Spirit. Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient. He is more than a gift, more than just power and more than a force. Some people think He is just a force or power through which God accomplishes things. He is more than that. He is a real person. If it were not so, Jesus wouldn’t have referred to him as a person and as a comforter (John 14:16, 14:26, John 15:26).
Endeavor to walk with the Holy Spirit on a daily basis. He is your comforter and guide. And He should be your senior partner. Commune with him in prayer and in praise and worship. Allow him use you, help you, reveal things to you and execute all the Father's plan and purposes for your life.
As you allow the Holy Spirit to have his way in your life, you would experience all-round lifting, your life would change for the better and you would never remain the same again in Jesus name (Amen).

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, I have realized that you are a person and a mighty person for that matter. I acknowledge the truth that you are 100% Almighty God and more than just a quiet and gentle Spirit. I submit my entire self (body, soul and spirit) to you. Have your way in me. Have your way in my life, help me, reveal things to me, use me for the Father’s glory and execute all the Father's plan for me. I pray with thanksgiving in Jesus name (Amen).
