Then Jesus went up on the mountain and called for those He wanted, and they came to Him. He appointed twelve of them, whom He designated as apostles, to accompany Him, to be sent out to preach, and to have authority to drive out demons. Mark 3:13-15 NIV
It might be easy for us today to think that our commissioning for Christ is not of the importance of that of the first disciples. We could easily assume this, saying that we have not been given power to heal nor to cast out demons. Although physical healing and removal of evil spirits is an important work which was given to those twelve men by the Lord, the eternal fate of souls is the more critical matter. In that respect, our mission today is no different than that of the original twelve. God does not wish that any should eternally perish. God loves all mankind. We must spread the message of the Good News. We have wonderful technology today which can help us to reach many more people than those original disciples were able to do. We must realize that this commission is such a critical part of our commitment to the Lord. Souls are saved by the Lord. The message though must be heard. Do not back away from your commissioning. Share the Good News always!
