After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” Mark 1:14-15 NIV
The kingdom of God is near. We should certainly rejoice and be glad! We were meant to be part of God’s kingdom. But there is a price that we will have to pay. We must repent and believe in the Good News. Yes, we must have a change of heart. No longer can we be focused on that which is of this world. We cannot be occupied with self. This all gets in the way of serving the Lord. We must have a change of heart. We must recognize our total dependence upon God. We cannot depend upon ourselves. What is the Good News? The Good News is that God the Father sent His Son Jesus Christ to teach of God’s will for man, and to be the acceptable sacrifice for atonement of sinfulness of mankind. We could not pay this price, so Christ paid it for us. Yes, know in your heart, mind, and soul that the kingdom of God is near. Rejoice in it. Live in Jesus Christ and the kingdom of God is meant for you!
