Lord God,

When I still feel the shame of past mistakes,

When I am still haunted by past regrets,

When I am tempted to give in to self-condemnation,

Please remind me that there is no need to continue to punish myself,

Because Christ has already paid the punishment for me,

Help me to hold firmly to the truth that through him there is complete forgiveness,

And that regardless of the extent of my sin,

Your love for me will never change,

Please help me to cast aside any shame I still feel,

And remind me that I am not left helpless in my weaknesses,

But that I have your Holy Spirit living within me,

Who will continue to cleanse me from sin and help me to live in obedience to you,

As you complete the good work you have begun in my life,

Until the day of Christ’s return.
