GOOD FRIDAY

Calling it "good" Friday didn't used to feel right,
It was the day of my Jesus's fatal plight.
How could it be good, when His blood was spilled?
That day seemed horrific. Jesus was killed!

It was a dark day. We murdered our Lord!
Sin caused His innocence to be ignored!
"Crucify Him!" Was the people's repeat.
Sin hammered the nails into God's hands and feet!

His response to everything He was put through?
"Father, forgive them? They know not what they do."
The Fathers love. Jesus's sacrifice.
Together, paid in full, sins heavy price.

The gulf between God and man can be gone,
We can have a relationship with The One!
So don't let this Friday be misunderstood,
If you've confessed your sins, they're gone! That's why it's good!!!

Good Friday was written on Good Friday 2019, in response to "Good Friday?" By Anon.
"Calling it good Friday, does not seem right.
It was the day of Jesus plight.
How can it be good, when His blood was spilled?
That Friday was bad when Jesus was killed."

Yes, I used a lot of his/her rhymes in the first verse, but stated how I used to feel. I've now come to a realization of why Good Friday is good and I felt I should share that with anyone I could. Anyone who was under the misapprehension that I was in for all those years.
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
1 Peter 2 v 24
