AMERICA'S SILENT VOICE

"You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?”  If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed." (Deut 18:21-22)

An old saying, "Prophecy, everyone has some."  So what is prophecy? The Greek word for prophecy is propheteia, which is the amalgamation of two other words, pro, meaning forth and phemi, meaning to speak.

In the New Testament a person who prophesies is one who recognizes the heart of God in a situation and expresses that to others. (I Cor. 14:3-4)

Now, here in the Twenty-first century, one need only follow any number of media venues to get a glance of one's interpretation of prophecy. These thoughts, and suggestions forthwith, seem to be a dime a dozen. And these manifestation settings vary from that of societal, to philosophical, to idealistic to even religious and so on. So, please add my reflections to the mix.

You see, I've been thinking a lot lately of prophetic predictions with respect to this great country of ours, America. As a country, it's where we have been, where we are now, and where we may be headed. In other words, where does America fit in respective of the end time prophecies?

The past is certainly behind us and our country's today and future is of a major concern of the thinking populace. What may we, as citizens of this great country, do to help affect our country's continued mottos such as:

"The Land of the Free and the Home of the brave" 
"In God we trust"
"God Bless America"
"Sweet Land of Liberty" 
"Liberty and Justice For All"
"Let Freedom Ring"
"Land That I Love"
"United We Stand, Divided We Fall"

Precisely just how does America fit into Scripture's end time prophecy? Prophecy, within its context is a mystery. So much so, that God made it a point to reveal its origin. In (II Peter 1:20-29) we see that prophecy is not a matter of one's own interpretation or an act of human will, but men were moved by the Holy Spirit in speaking the words of God.

In other words, not being of man's own interpretation simply means (1) prophecy must be interpreted in light of other Scripture; (2) prophecies are often capable of several fulfillments; (3) prophecies must be interpreted only with God's help, since they were given only as the prophets were moved by God, and not by impulse of man.

And being moved literally means borne along. This shows the dual authorship of God's Word - the Holy Spirit guiding and guarding the men involved." (taken in part from the Ryrie Study Bible footnotes)

And in connection with the scripture of Second Peter, we also have the additional reference that "All scripture was inspired by God (II Timothy 3:16), so that God's people will be well equipped. (II Timothy 3:17)

With this declared authority of Bible prophecy, we move on to America's part in prophecy. Is America a part of the end times prophecy or not?

Writing with respect to this question, Dr. Tim LaHaye has written. "One of the hardest things for American prophecy students to accept is that the United States is not clearly mentioned in Bible prophecy."

So what about America's future?  The Scripture is plain in that our God is sovereign over the entire universe, which no doubt does includes America, even though there is no direct reference to America in Scripture. However, we must remember that God's redemptive plan has always been universal. 

In his book "The Book Of Signs" Dr. David Jeremiah gives four possibilities for the Bible's silence on the future of America. 

One - America will be incorporated into the European Coalition
Two - America will be invaded by outside forces
Three - America will be infected with moral decay
Four - America will be impotent because of the Rapture.

So again, what about America's future?  Although America's existence was given by God's sovereign grace, is America testing God's patience?  Is God about to remove His blessing? Is America about to die a suicidal death? In other words, is America now in the depths of despair ? I surely hope not.

Simply fast-forward to the Biblical scenario of mankind's future communal interaction. We find that the Scripture has much to say about the subject.

In (II Timothy 3:1-5) we see the perils of apostasy, namely mankind will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious, gossips, without self control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding a form of godliness, although they have denied its powers; and we are to avoid such as these. 

In (II Timothy 3:7,13 ) we see the future of  the human race. Mankind is always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. And such evil impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

Also, as a side bar to the above, in (II Timothy 4:3-4) we see that the time will come when mankind will not endure sound doctrine, but wanting to have their ears tickled and they will turn away from the truth. 

So what about this end time prophecy? Is this prophecy becoming a reality? I say yes, for one cannot argue with Scripture. We need only compare Scripture's prophecy with that of our current events. Simply tune in any news media outlet, talk to your neighbor across the fence, or sadly to say, listen to many of today's church leaders.  

You see, in (II Peter 2:1) we are warned of the false prophets and false teachers among us who will introduce destructive heresies. And many will to follow them (II Peter 2:2-3) .   

I realize, human nature being what it is, we all probably have our own society's opinions concerning prophecy's end of time predictions. In (II Peter 3:3-4) we have a perfect ideal example of human impatient frustration and mankind's willful ignorance.

Even Jesus' disciples were inquisitive, as they asked the Master when the end would come. (Matthew 24:3). However, Jesus told them to watch the signs, (Matthew 24: 4), as no one knew when the end would come, not even Him, but only the father knows. (Matthew 24:36) 

However, we must not let the known facts of pending prophecy escape our mind. For God's redemptive timing is not our timing. (II Peter 3:8). You see, God may just be delaying His return for the sole purpose of allowing more people to repent. (II Peter 3:9)  

And in support of Peter's statement, we see in (Romans 11:25) and (Acts 15:14) that God's mystery of the end times may be that He is waiting for the last Gentiles to be saved.

It's like that Old Time Religion pastor use to say, every time I hear of another sinner coming to the Lord, I shout out, "Is the time now here?"  

Although not mentioned directly by name in Scripture, America is definitely a part of God's redemptive plan for the ages. When the rapture of the saints occurs (I Cor 15:51-58) (I Thess 4:13-18) we American Christians will join His calling, to forever be with Him. America will not escape all the other end time prophecies, including the punishments for its evil deeds. (Revelation 20:11-15)

In conclusion, America's religious freedoms are now being challenged more than at any other time in history. Nonetheless, we serve a good and just God, who leaves us a plan of escape (I Cor. 10:13), as He knows just how to rescue the godly. (II Peter 2:9)

Can " America The Beautiful"  be saved ? I pray it can.  As a country, we still have a chance of redemption. God's plan is specifically laid out for us believers. So please pray for revival. Pray for AMERICA'S PROPHETIC VOICE.

"If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (II Chronicles 7:14)

The question, is, America up to this task? And particularly speaking, are you up to this challenge, beloved? Amen!

I firmly believe that America has a triple role to play during the end-times. (1) Take the Gospel to the world (Acts 1:8) (2) Disciple the nations (Matthew 28:19-20) and (3) Be a blessing to Israel. (Genesis 12:3)

You see, no other nation in the history of the universe has simultaneously fulfilled all of these assignments like America has. So may we never fail this task.
