May our hearts ever yearn for Him alone

What do we seek from the Lord when we come to Him in prayer?

That wants and wishes may be fulfilled and we be freed from all care?

Do you ever tell Him, ‘Lord above all there is but this that I most desire’

That Your presence should ever be found in me ‘the ever loving consuming Fire’

More than the gifts, the Giver to be sought,

More than the Kingdom, the King Who begot,

May our hearts ever yearn for Him alone,

Him Who gracefully sits on heaven’s throne

His heart is good, full of compassion and love,

And in His presence there is fullness of joy

At His right hand there are pleasures forever more

In vain often elsewhere our hearts we employ

More precious than the answer to any prayer,

More than being relived of all our worries and care,

Our souls will surely find perfect solace,

When earnestly we seek His glorious face

Awesome in beauty, majestic and glorious to behold,

In Whose presence all else seems but shadows on the way

More than our needs, freedom from cares and worries,

Let’s seek His presence always as we pray.
