The year that was
What a year it was
Days, weeks and months
All rolled by with a grace so fast
But left behind moments to last.

Moments that can never pass away with time
The Sunrises came and Sunsets went
Days bowed in and nights moved out
They all cheered, inspired and taught.

They taught us that no matter
How energetic each new morning begins
When it subdues into the late evening
Our life has been lived for one more day.

One more day pushes our souls
To live for yet another day and so on
The heart never tires of pumping beats
Beats that only want to express and give love.

Love which is the fuel of life
Life which is the engine of years
Every single month ran into its season
Seasons which blossomed more with our care.

The year that was
Gave us something so precious to hold and keep
That which we would never part away from
Emotions and sentiments to be cradled deep inside.

The year that was
Without any single doubt
Was a glorious year from start to end!
But such a beautiful year could only come about
Because every orchestrating second of it
Was under the High Command of God alone.

The year that was
Now stands to welcome the New Year on its Eve
A year awaiting its turn to run and play
The best piece that it can give to all
As per the Calendar set in Heaven.
