I have lived a life
That sought for itself;
The needs of many others
I’ve dropped on a shelf.

“This is MY life
To live,” so I thought.
But this is a lie,
And I smelled its selfish rot.

I soon saw this life
Was meant to live for others,
That it might bring them
Into becoming brothers.
Each single choice
May show them the Way,
And bear them into
My Father’s brightest Day.

Could the run of my life
Make you catch your breath?
Would it show the way,
Away from second death?

So now I’ve set my sites
On the face of my Christ,
That it might set free
Others from sin’s ice.

See my run’s direction,
With each and every falter,
As I run toward
My Father’s holy alter.

So be caught within
The draft of my race;
The run of my passion
To Jesus’ lovely face!
