Written 10-26-04

With an attitude revealing a darkened heart,
I saw nothing good in this life;
My perspective began at a gloomy start,
I saw no blessings in my strife.

I saw the morning sky, dark and red,
My soul sank so deep within me;
I foresaw a day filled with dread,
Rain would come with clouds so stormy.

But now the days are filled with hope,
The joy of the Lord regains me;
His word pulls me up like a rope,
His truth has truly set me free.

So, I was singing of His praise,
After stopping at a red light;
Where once I cursed its halting rays,
Instead I marveled its beauty so bright.

The love of God must be seen,
And be the way we see things through;
Without His love we remain mean,
And fail to see what is true.
