I’m just a pilgrim here,
A pilgrim passing through;
For heaven is my real home;
My family’s all there, too…
It’s a land of milk and honey
God promised in His Story,
Filled with fun for everyone
Where we’ll walk the golden streets of glory…
Why, there’s even an emerald rainbow
Encircling the throne,
Where Papa rules and reigns
An eternity yet unknown…
I’m homesick for my holy home
Christ’s constructed in the sky;
My tears make me shake, my heart seems to break
Till I meet Him by and by…
Thar be treasures there, too, matey,
Promised the Captain of our souls;
Far surpassing any treasures on earth—
That’s what Jesus told…
I used to be a scoundrel
Till I let my dear Savior in;
Then had a look in His dear, holy Book
And saw that nice guys do win in the end…
And so, I sow some seeds of sorrow
As I wait with baited breath
For endless, soothing, summer tomorrows
Where there’ll never be anymore more death…
