A prayer that can be used anytime before reading God's Word. Can also be adapted as a starting prayer for a Bible study group.

Lord God,

I thank you that your Word is good and trustworthy. I pray that as I read this particular passage now, please grant me understanding through your Spirit. Please continue to encourage, challenge, and strengthen me through your Word, and help me to discern what it means for my life. I pray that as I read your Word, help me to grow to know you more and give me the strength to live by it.

Amen
