Elijah made sure the false prophets of Baal were slain. God is against people worshipping anything or anyone but him, for is the LORD God.

Ahab told Jezebel how Elijah killed them. Then Elijah ran for his life. He was afraid he was going to be killed. Elijah went to Beersheba. Elijah became depressed and went into the wilderness and sat under a tree and asked God to take his life.

Many people get depressed and God will help us and comfort us at those times. God sent an angel to Elijah who brought him food and water. Elijah ate and drank and fell asleep. The angel came to Elijah again and brought some more food and water and told Elijah to eat and drink. The angel told Elijah that he needed to eat and drink because the journey would be too much for him and he couldn’t take it. The food and drink gave him strength for 40 days and 40 nights.

What can we learn from this story?

1. Even though Elijah was depressed, God comforted him and cared for him.


2. God is no respecter of persons, he will comfort us too when we get depressed. 1 Peter 5:7 casting all your care upon him for he careth for you.


3. Hebrews 13:5 for he hath said I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
