Whose blood waters the Tree?-
We all know about the old quote:
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
- Thomas Jefferson
I'd like to take the imagery of this metaphor a bit further. But first, I can't help but to notice that this tree of Liberty that Jefferson spoke of, might be very synonymous with that tree spoken of in God's Word, in the very first Psalm:
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord ; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Psalms 1:1-6 KJV
Being that, this living tree of Liberty is rooted in our Creator, that endows us, and sustains us in freedom or the God given American Liberty (as the Declaration Of Independence declares), and as the Psalm tells us. The Psalm speaks about the tree being planted by the Living stream of water, which is, literally, the meditation of a man upon God's Law, or His Word, that leads men into prosperity (Psalm 1:2-3). This IS what gives us our Liberty, both as a single man in Gods Kingdom, and also corporately. It is what makes a people Free and prosperous as a sovereign nation in God's Kingdom. So, is this "Psalm tree" the same symbolic tree of Liberty that Jefferson spoke of? History seems to show us that this actual, philosophically concrete tree, is the sustenance or substance of what actually produces the fruit of the Liberty tree that we ALL (The whole world, red, yellow, black or white) can enjoy, ( prosper) if they so choose.
But, we have been ignoring for a very long time now, the pestilence and the parasites that have been bred and hatched in the festering, unflowing, stagnant waters around theTree (Illustrated by the people who no longer meditate upon God's Law, and actually, now embrace godlessness, and can even ascend into being tyrants). This stagnant, pestilent, tyrant fed "culture", now has allowed for a systemic state of lies, and the perversion of critical thinking (Which includes the inability to discern propoganda/mind control, and the inability to learn from history). These parasites have been infesting, consuming, corrupting, distorting, and making unusable and inedible the fruits of the Liberty tree. We, Americans, the ones who all enjoy the fruit of the tree, didn't seem to notice or really even care about some bad, ruined fruit in the tree. This, because we mistakenly "knew" that the tree would always faithfully produce more glorious, unadulterated, fruit for us ALL to enjoy.
We also seemed to fail to notice that these parasites were also working dilligently at the base of this tree. This pestilence even methodically then working its way down into the tree's deep root system, and were devouring that as well. But we didn't care. We were still enjoying the fruit of Liberty.
But now, as the fruit dwindles, these parasites grow more ravenous. They now even begin eating away at the very sustenance that is the tree of Liberty. This undeniably ugly sight, plays out right in front of all of us...as plain as the nose on our faces. Not ONLY destroying its fruits, but its branches, and twigs and flowers that bear the fruit. Eating away, with their termite- like politically correct teeth, things like justice and due process, freedom of speech and freedom of assembly (to say or think, or even associate with people who say "politically incorrect" things), and many other things spelled out in our American Bill of Rights. They attempt to devour the substance that IS our Tree of Liberty, that HAD been gloriously growing.
The parasites are now eating away the very sustenance that IS the TREE.
With the Tree's altered state,
is the very idea of even meditating upon God's Law, or His Word, quickly becoming a "thought crime?"
What was the verse in God's Law, about the one who devours, kills and destroys? Hey, speaking of serpents and trees and fruit. When Jesus told us (His disciples) to be as wise as a serpent and as peaceful as doves, (Mt 10:16) I'll point out that, of course, He was aware that even doves occasionally eat insects.
Is this Glorious Tree lost to us? At least, on THIS side of the New Heaven and the New Earth?
Or, is the Holy Spirit Arm of the Creator that sustains everything, about to water the tree of Liberty?
Those of us who meditate upon the Law of God, tend to see it coming.
Jesus commands us to love:
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:12-13 KJV
Is it loving, to sit back and watch our friends, who we are told to love, be systematically destroyed? Or does Jesus imply that we NEED to do something else?
Whose blood is it, that ultimately waters the tree of Liberty?
