Dying to the Flesh

How to overcome this flesh that continually draws man away from God; abide in Christ and He will abide in you … Joseph did not wait to start speaking in tongues when Portiphar’s wife(though relentless in her efforts) tried to deceive him into seduction; he ran for DEAR LIFE! Genesis 39:6-23 (KJV)

Apostle Paul paints a very graphic picture of the difficulty that confronts every man IN THE FLESH

Romans 7 (KJV)

7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Paul was a man with like passions(Elijah and Elisha also), suffering within his flesh (1 Corinthians 2:14) Jesus remained focused as He undertook His father’s work here on earth, though in some moments, it was highly uncomfortable, painFULL and near impossible but HE PERSEVERED ACCORDING TO GOD’S WILL

So long as the world remains a sinful one, conflict abounds and ‘we need arms not only to hug one another, but also to fight against  real and imagined enemies’

The life of the Christian is exactly same (John 15:18-25) total peace is a dream because it is only in Christ Jesus that this evolves in the inner part of man. Perhaps you came to Christ because of a tumultuous life with no way out and someone said that in Him, you would find peace. True, In Christ, we experience peace with God (Romans 5:1; 12:18)

But while the Christian life is one of peace, it’s also one of constant warfare. As we serve Christ and seek to extend His kingdom, the devil is not happy thereby, we’re at war with the evil powers of darkness (Ephesians 6:10-20)

TO STEAL, KILL AND DESTROY; these powers and principalities use all ammunition in their armory!

Direct battles, indirect, con, discouragement, disillusionment, weariness, bombardment with all categories of artillery just so to overwhelm and tear down resolve

A transformed being and the new birth (Nicodemus’s FAMOUS QUESTION…John 3:4)

John 3 (NKJV)

3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”

5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
