Recently Holy Spirit has been itemizing how very important it is to be like the seed sown in the fertile ground. Jesus gave the analogy of Himself as the Farmer Who planted seed that bore varying results based on the receptivity and conduciveness of the place upon which they landed.
Seeds require rich soil in order to develop and continual watering in order to flourish. You and I are much like those seeds. In fact Jesus Christ vehemently explained that we are indeed the seeds and He is the Farmer referred to in His Matthew chapter 13 parable.
Jesus stands and beckons to "All who will, "Come and freely drink"" (Revelation 22:17). The texture of our soil (heart) is heavily dependent upon our choices - our free will. What have you chosen for your own heart ? What are the properties of your soil ?
“He [Jesus] told many stories in the form of parables, such as this one: “Listen!
A farmer went out to plant some seeds.
The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the Message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts.
The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the Message and immediately receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for Believing God’s Word.
The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s Word, but all too quickly the Message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.
The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s Word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!””

It is my prayer that we all CHOOSE to be fertile ground, ground upon which our Savior, Lord and King can expect a hundred fold return !
Beyond measure, soil type is pivotal but equally as imperative is watering of the soil and seedlings.
Living Water is Life giving and Life sustaining ! We are told in Revelation 22:1 that such Water has a Source, or rather Two Sources Who are yet One.
“Then the angel showed me a River with the Water of Life, clear as crystal, flowing from the Throne of God and of the Lamb [Jesus].
It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the River grew a Tree of Life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations.”
•Revelation 22:1-2 NLT
Provision has been made for our flourishing even before the foundations of the earth were laid but the onus is on us to receive it ! FREE WILL !
“Jesus replied, “If you only knew the Gift God has for you and Who you are speaking to, you would ask Me, and I would give you Living Water.””
•John 4:10 NLT
Father, we ask for and we receive Your Grace that our hearts will allow Jesus, our Bridegroom, to wash us with the Water of His Word. (Ephesians 5:25:27)
