The Holy Spirit As I re-read Acts chapter one, I noticed for the first time, just how much it is centered around the Third Member of the Beautiful Trinity. Holy Spirit is introduced in verse two and His Name, attributes and functions are itemized as Luke continues writing ! Jesus Himself is recorded as giving final instructions to His apostles "Through" Holy Spirit. It is only two more verses before Holy Spirit is spoken of again when Jesus commands them to remain in Jerusalem until Abba's Gift - Holy Spirit - is sent and they've received His baptism.A few short verses down at verse eight, Jesus redirects the conversation and again speaks to them concerning Holy Spirit. He goes on to explain that baptism in Holy Spirit gives a believer POWER ! Verse sixteen teaches us that Holy Spirit Himself predicted, hundreds of years prior through King David, Judas' betrayal of Jesus Christ and the field he would purchase with the thirty pieces of silver he got for his treachery.Lastly, never again is the practice of casting lots used by believers seeking direction from God as a much Superior Compass is Gifted to the church in Acts chapter two. From then on our Sweet Holy Spirit is our internal Guide Who takes us each by the hand and guides us into ALL Truth (John 14:17 and John 16:13). The casting of lots is not mentioned again following the book of Acts unless in reference to events occurring previously. The gravity, significance, urgency and immense importance of receiving Holy Spirit, cannot be overstated.
