Sheep Before Shearers

It is true from observation that sheep really do fall silent before the shearer, though the surrounding flock be bleating away, that one bleats not because, as some say, they know instinctively it is for its own good annually, to give it greater mobility and to protect it from disease. (In ancient pagan sacrifice an unwilling animal of sacrifice, one that put up noticeable resistance was not considered worthy or appropriate for the purpose of sacrifice at all.) Also we are told and shearers know that the first fleece given by each sheep is the highest quality one. Ancient Israelites typically gave this high quality fleece as part of a tithe offering to clothe the priesthood. Think of the richness of this truth! Jesus that lamb that takes away the sin of the world was "fleeced" and slaughtered for our sakes without uttering a word of protest,(see Matthew chapter 26, verse 62 as Jesus stood before the Roman governor Pontius Pilate) and this fleece of highest unblemished quality is our perfect garment of righteousness in which we may stand unashamed as a holy priesthood offering spiritual sacrifices (1 Peter 2, v5) before the holy presence of His Father in heaven, His Father and now our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be His name! See Isaiah 53, verse, prophetic words spoken by the Isaiah of Jesus 700 years or so before he was ever born, "as a lamb that is led to its slaughter and as a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth----" (New American Standard Bible)
