Prayer for the Local Church

Lord God,

I thank you for the local church of which I am a part of,

I thank you for those in this church who are in leadership,

Please help them to care well for the flock you have put in their care,

Help them to teach your Word faithfully, completely and with integrity,

And help them to resist the temptation to water down the gospel,

And to equip your people for ministry,

As well as make wise and godly decisions about the future of the church,

I pray for all your people who are in this local church,

Please continue to be at work in them by the power of your Spirit,

Help them to devote themselves to prayer and reading and living by your Word each day,

Help them to commit to keep meeting together,

And help them to love one another,  

I pray that your people would be strengthened to use the gifts you have given them,

To serve your church in many creative and intelligent ways,

I pray that this local church would be a place where all people feel welcome,

I pray that it would be a place where all people can come to learn about Christ,

And be encouraged and challenged to put their faith in him,

I pray for all the different ministries in this local church,

Please raise up enough workers for each of these ministries,

And equip all of them to serve you wholeheartedly,

I pray that you would help each of these ministries to grow,

And help your people to be gospel-centred in all the ways that they serve you,

I pray also that you would please provide for the financial resources of your local church,

And help your people to be cheerful givers in tithing,

I pray that you would help your people to be good stewards of the church resources,

Please give wisdom about where to best invest their time, energy and money,

And provide many opportunities for your local church to partner

With other churches and ministries in the community,

Lord God,

Please help your people to keep shining as the light of the world,

So that others may see us and glorify you,

Amen.
