His Hour Had Come

Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied. When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. Then Pilate asked him, “Don’t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?” But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor. Matthew 27:11-14 NIV

With the eating of the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden, the Father established a plan for the redemption of mankind. It did involve, though, the shedding of innocent blood, the blood of God’s only Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jesus said nothing against all the accusations brought against Him, as He knew the hour had come for Him to fulfill the plan of salvation. Jesus easily could have stopped the mockery of a trial, and the execution which He was to endure. But, by doing so, mankind would not have been saved, and we would not have the opportunity to be reconciled to the Heavenly Father. Jesus knew why He had come to earth, and He was determined to carry out the Father’s plan. That was much more important to Him than to spare His earthly life.

We are so blessed to have one who sacrificed His life for our eternal reward, We must make the choice to choose Christ. He will not force Himself upon us. Give yourself totally to Christ. Salvation only comes through Christ. Spend eternity in the presence of the Father and the Son. Work for the advancement of the kingdom of God.
