Wisdom calls aloud in the street.
She raises her voice,
“Can anyone hear me?”
In the public squares - loud - she cries out.
And in the gateways of the city
is where she makes her speech.

“How long will you love your simple ways?”
“How long will mockers delight in mockery?”

All you fools -
had you responded to my rebuke,
I would have poured out my heart unto you.

But since you rejected me when I called,
And left my out-stretched hand to fall;
And since you ignored all my advice,
Nor would accept my rebuke
I will - in turn - laugh at your lives,
And watch disaster overtake you.

When they succumb within distress;
That is when they’ll call on me
to fix their stubborn mess.

But I will not respond.
When they look for me -
I’ll be gone.

Since they chose to ignore the advice that I gave,
They will now eat the fruit of their schemes
and of their ways.

For the waywardness of the simple,
And the complacency of the fools,
Will kill them and destroy them
Because they didn’t want the Truth.

But whoever listens to me
Will live in safety -
At ease and comfortably.
They’ll be in harm - no more...

Because they chose to fear the Lord.
