You have just made a robot that looks and sounds like a person. You turn it on and all it does is say thank you and tells you how wonderful you are. You instruct it to do something, but it just sits there and tells you again, thank you and how wonderful you are. This is great to hear how wonderful you are and it is needed. You want to be praised by your new invention but now you want to see all the wonderful things that you have programmed it to do. But someone has played a joke on you. Someone who didn’t want your invention to succeed came in and redid some of your programing. Now the robot won’t accept your instructions and all it says over and over is, “thank you” and then tells you how wonderful you are.

You start to think, “ This robot doesn’t really know who I am, how can it tell me how wonderful I am. I would like to show it more about myself, by letting it experience all the wonderful things it was made to do. It can be thankful that I brought it into existence, but now it needs to discover all the wonderful things it can do.” Then all of a sudden your robot starts walking off and doing all sorts of odd things. You try to direct it back but it doesn’t respond to your instructions. Now you have a choice to make; either let it go and see what it does, so that you can try and fix it or if it gets too out of control, destroy it. You have put into its program a desire to always return back to its owner, a desire, that when it gets broken, it knows that its place of origin is the only place where it will get repaired . Even if it doesn’t respond right away, you know that this is in its program and cannot be removed.

So you feel honored that you have such a wonderful creation, but all your hopes and dreams for that creation are now thrown out the window.

Can this give you some idea of what your creator is going through? Sure, you pray every day and thank Him for everything and tell Him how wonderful you must imagine He is, never even having the slightest idea of how wonderful He really is. You live your life out by doing either what other Christians tell you is Biblical and righteous or by doing what you personally think the Bible means. This causes you to limit yourself for fear of displeasing God or gives you the idea that you can do whatever you please. So now God has either children that are so fearful of Him that they won’t do much of anything or children that are out of control. God had a wonderful and exciting life planned for you and He hoped that you would give Him a chance to show you this life.

So now you are thinking, “What can I do?” It’s really very simple. Just pick up your instruction manual (the Bible) and open the dictionary (ask Jesus Christ for the aid of the Holy Spirit) and start reading. Start thinking of questions to ask God about what you read. Then read again. Then fellowship with others who are open minded to God’s way and pray together to make sure the answers you are getting, are from God. You will then discover all the good things God has made you capable of doing and what an awesome God you truly have.

The two last and most important things: be a good listener and trust that what the Word of God tells you is true (unlike Adam and Eve who lost their trust in God and faithfulness to Him in that one tragic moment).
