Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?” Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.” Matthew 19:27-30 NIV

Leave it to Peter to ask what there shall be for those of us who follow Christ. The Lord told the disciples who were then with Him that which they would receive.

Jesus also lets us, His followers today, know that we shall receive as well. He specifically states that we shall receive eternal life. This will be eternity, in the presence of the Father and the Son, and all those who believe in Him. We shall also receive a hundredfold of that which we have given up here on earth in order to follow Him. What shall we receive? Though Christ does not specify, here, it will be riches beyond our ability to comprehend now. And the magnitude of these riches (blessings) is beyond that which we can imagine.

Don’t get caught up in the exactness of what it is that we shall receive. Trust in the Lord. Give yourself to Him, and serve Him. You cannot possibly imagine the eternal riches that await you on the other side of the door to eternal life.
