Oh Man, What A God!

     Move aside Michelangelo, for the Master Artist has miraculously outdone your wondrous works.  The Sistine Chapel is a finger painting compared to the amazing art work of the LORD God Almighty!  From daffodils to dandelions, from katydids to kitty cats…from skittering squirrels to soaring seagulls, God made them all.  God made them marvelous.  God has woven a tapestry through time, and all of it is amazing! 

     He hurled the worlds into the heavens, delightful, dazzling, endearing.  And this amazing God knows His stuff, too, for if our planet were a fraction closer to the sun we’d melt like marshmallows.  And if we were a little too far away, this planet would be a popsicle.  Amazing, I say, just amazing!

     But He didn’t stop there, this amazing Designer.  No.  He gave us lush green grass as shag carpeting beneath our calloused feet, and then He covered us with a canopy of towering trees to shade us from the searing heat.  And as if that weren’t enough, He gave this big, bold ball floating in space a ceiling…a sky so blue it takes our breath away, baby, in wonder and amazement too.  O LORD!  You are simply amazing.

     He gave us glistening granite boulders to sit on.  He gave us babbling brooks to sip from.  And if we listen very closely we can hear Him whispering in the wind.  And as if that weren’t enough, our one True Love sends us bouquets of flowers everywhere.  Yes, His love is like a waterfall, giving living water from within.  And all of it is simply amazing!

     Moreover, He made a man out of mud.  He called his name Adam, but his nickname was Bud.  And then like the genius Scientist God truly is, He split the first Adam to create a bombshell named Eve.  Amazing!

     And when He wove us together in our mama’s womb, He counted the cost, He considered the tomb.  Knowing how naughty—even nasty—we might sometimes be, He brought us forth into being, anyway.   Yes, He loved us when we were merely in His imagination, before He wound up earth’s clock, and then transformed us into image from imagination—He desired us so deeply.  Isn't that amazing?

     And when Adam and Eve fouled everything up by feasting on that forbidden fruit, He focused on the future and figured out a way.  No, our creation wasn't moot.  Yes, this amazing God, so innocent, so pure, laid down His own life; the cross He endured.  Yes, He let them hammer Him to a tree, to pay off the debt of our sin’s penalty.  For He did not want us to go to Hell, where endless sulphur and suffering would be our death knell.  Who, I say, would have done all that for sinners such as we?  Only adorable, astonishing, amazing God!  And He did it for you and me!

     And now that He has risen from the dead and reigns on a throne in heaven instead, He pays the most meticulous attention to every minute of our lives.  Through sorrow, sin, sickness, and strife.  He is there when we learn to walk but keep falling and scraping our knees.  And He is there when we are too old to walk, and we still keep stumbling and scraping our knees.  What an awesome, authentic, and amazing Friend!  What an amazing God!!!

     And to think that one day when we depart this mortal coil, sorrow will never know another tomorrow.  We’ll have finally come face to face with our Best Friend—God.  Amazing God.  And such pleasures He has promised to His cherished children when we wave to this world goodbye, kiss the sky, and meet our Maker by and by makes me wait with baited breath to meet this sweet, and soulful Guy!
