Ye Are Salt

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” Matthew 5:13 NIV

 

This world of its own lacks salt. It is bland and tasteless. It is full of evil and deceit. It has nothing to provide true flavor. This world is nothing without that which is of Christ.

 

Christ sends us as salt into this world. The world needs flavor enhancement, spiritual enhancement. This can only come through Christ, and those whom He appoints to share the Good News. We, His followers must spread the Good News. Just as salt is taken from a shaker to enhance food, we must take God’s word to those of this world. We are the salt.

 

If we are inactive in our Christian life, we will become like salt that loses its saltiness. We will fall out of grace with God, and be like those of this world. Keep “shaking” as the salt from Christ, to bring flavor, the presence of Christ to this world.
