Will All Men Be Saved? Part 2

The last time we talked about the foreknowledge of God. God is the God of all the knowledge of the past, present, and future. In his view, God saw everything, and he initiated the perfect plan. It's important that you understand that there was no other way.

God is not evolving nor growing in knowledge. God doesn't know things in part, but he knows all at once. What God knew he has always known.

God knew both the problem and the solution all at once, and he never had to make any changes. It was essential that everything was played through as it is in the knowledge of God. God has the perfect plan, and there was no other way.

The Lamb of God

Let's start this portion by looking at something that John said in one of his letters to the Chruch.

1 John 1:8-10
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

The above verses are not about confession, even though you may hear it preached in that manner.

The subject of the text is the faithfulness of God. John is saying that if we have confessed our sin, God has done his part in forgiving our sin and cleansing us from all unrighteousness.

The problem is that the people through there actions were saying that God had not done his part. They were still acting as though God had not forgiven nor cleaned them from all unrighteousness.

You see if God has cleansed you from all unrighteousness that means that you are righteous and you can no longer commit sin. Now hear what I'm saying, a righteous person cannot sin.

That is, unrighteousness cannot come from righteousness. Only the unrighteous can produce unrighteous acts. When God cleansed you from all unrighteousness, he made you righteous, and it's impossible for you to sin.

2 Corinthians 5:21
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

1 John 3:9 - Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin because he is born of God.

2 Peter 1:4 - Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

When God cleansed us from all unrighteousness, he gave us his nature, which is a righteous nature. We became the seed of God, and God's seed can only act as God acts. We are no longer the old man of sin and death, but we are a new man Created in Christ Jesus unto good works or acts.

Ephesians 2:10 - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Without going too far or father than I want to go, let me get to my point. God forgave us and cleansed us on the grounds of what Jesus did.

Jesus is our confession for he has confessed before God for all people, and our righteousness is fulfilled in him. We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and as he is at in heavenly place so are we in this world.

1 Timothy 2:5 - For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

A mediator is one who intervenes between two to restore peace. There's only one man that restores peace with God, and that's the man Christ Jesus. Our confession is a confession of what Christ has done and who we are in him.

The word confession is the Greek word for 'acknowledgment'. Yes, there is a one-time acknowledgment that we sinned, but this is done at the beginning as we turn to Christ. The acknowledging is part of the turning.

Hebrews 10:23 - Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

The word profession is the same Greek word for confession that we find in 1 John 1:9, and means to acknowledge. Our acknowledging is a faith thing. It's by faith that we acknowledge that we have sinned and that God has forgiven us of our sin and cleansed us from all unrighteousness.

Now, what am I saying when I say that the acknowledging is part of the turning?

To repent is to recognize that the direction that you are walking is the wrong way, and turning to walk on the right path.

Repentance is not something that we make up in our minds to do, but it is an act that's orchestrated by God. and that means that everything will work out as God willed.

Romans 2:4 - Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

It is the good of God that leads us to repentance. The word 'lead' is the Greek word that means to lead by taking hold of and by doing so will make sure you reach the destination.

Every person that comes to God comes in the same manner. That is, if God doesn't take hold of you and drive you to him, you will not get there. That means that your coming to God, was initiated by God, and if God had not taken hold of you to bring you to him, you would not have come.

We must understand that what God has done for us he's also done for all men. It has not appeared yet but it will.

The scripture is not talking about a continuous confession of sin because God both forgave and cleansed us from all sin and unrighteousness.

If God cleansed us from all unrighteousness, then there is no sin to confess. The sin is the unrighteousness that God cleansed us from.

Hebrews 6:4-6
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

If you read carefully within the context, you will see that he's saying that it's impossible to fall away after you have tasted of the good word of God to fall away. Why? That's because it is the through the word of his power that he upholds all things.

Hebrews 1:3 - Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Once we began to walk in the experience of God's word, and the world to come, it's that word that upholds us, and we cannot fall nor fail; God is able to keep us from falling.

Jude 1:24 - Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

He not only keeps us from falling, but he offered us perfect before the presence of the glory or face of God. God glory is his shine, and no one can stand before the shine of God apart from being like him.

When will he present us faultless before God? He has already shown us faultless before God. In Christ who is your life, you are perfect, and that means you are without fault.

Now, that's what the word of God says. But get this, if we are blameless, then the whole world is without fault. When speaking of the world, we are talking about the people. I will talk more about this later.

Remember, everything has to play through as God saw it in his foreknowledge, but God is the orchestrator, and that means we will see what he purposed as the results.

Therefore, we repented not because it was something that we decided to do, but it was a decision made by God. We repented because it was God's will.

Romans 3:25 - Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

The word propitiation means both to make amends for and to put away.

Everthing that was needed Jesus did it, and what he did is put our account. In order to fulfill all righteousness, everything had to play through, that is God had to tell us to do it, but the fulfillment of what was needed was carried out through Jesus. Not for us only, but for the whole world.

Colossians 2:9-10
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

If our completion in him, so is the world, because what he did for us in regards to sin he also did for the world. Furthermore, what he did for us, he did for us when we were of the world.

The word propitiation means both to make amends for and to put away.

1 John 2:1-3
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 And hereby we do know that we know him if we keep his commandments.

Notice what it says in verse two, Jesus is the propitiation for our sin but not only our sins but for the sins of the whole world.

Jesus both made amends for and put away our sins and the sins of the whole world.
