The initial seventeen verses of the gospel of Matthew speak of the human genealogy of Christ. The list contains 41 males, along with three mothers by name, and one woman as the wife of a man, and two references to “his brothers”, along with Mary, the mother of our Savior.

Some of these names are not referred to much in the Bible, yet they were all part of Christ’s earthly genealogy.

Have you ever thought it would be nice if your name had appeared in the Bible?

Well, your name may not be listed in the Bible, but, I will point out to you where your name is shown that is truly important.

Do you recall what is contained in Luke 10:20? Quite possibly you do not recall that this is where our Lord says “However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” (NIV)

First, you must recognize that this message is not only directed to the twelve disciples, but, to all believers in Christ. Secondly, this is a promise from the Lord. The Lord has a perfect record on fulfilling that which He has promised.

We see in John 14:2-3 “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (NIV) Here is another promise to us from the Lord.

So, tell me, do not these two promises far out shadow the thought of seeing your name listed in the Bible? Do you see where you are destined to go? This is through salvation and faith. Top that my dear friend!

You are loved by God. Though you have done nothing to deserve that which He has promised, you can rest assured His promises shall be made complete. Love and serve the Lord always! Praise His name!
