As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:1-3 NIV

Unity within the body of Christ is needed if we truly wish to be successful in aiding the advancement of God’s kingdom. There is such a lack of unity within our world, and many look for unity within something. What a better place would there be to find unity than within the body of Christ. So, we have plenty of work to do to bring unity to Christ’s body, the church.

How can we do this? We can start by being humble and gentle. We must bear with one another in love. We can choose to have differences of opinions on some matters, yet not allow it to divide us as Christ’s body. Through the indwelling Spirit we must strive to be at peace with one another. When we are at odds with one another, no one really wins, and we all have narrow minds.

Let us really learn to be loving and kind, and open our hearts and minds to all others. This will make us more like Christ. The one thing which we should always remain at odds with is evil. Just remember that an evil act, and the one who commits that act are not necessarily one and the same. Work at not judging, but at loving, and bringing peace to the body of Christ.
