TO LEAVE OR NOT TO LEAVE

To leave or not to leave, that is the question!
Many marital unions are in jeopardy so much so that the church is not exempt. But let us understand God’s perspective on this issue; marriage and the role of each party especially when it comes to a halt and there seems to be no way out except DIVORCE!

The root of marital failure vary and abound: wrong choices/reasons as a false foundation in choosing a life partner, the woman anxiously seeking a husband (God commands in Proverbs 18:22 that this is a mans prerogative), weakling/baby ‘men’, random sampling always (sexual spree and cohabitation),societal/family pressure, ancestral covenants and curses hindering a stable home or good relationships and so on.

Ephesians 5:21-33; 1Timothy 5:8; Colossians 3:19;

Let us first have a look at the role of the man in marriage:

1 Timothy 3:2-12 The role of the Christian husband is a clear command from the almighty, love is utmost, the man should ALWAYS lay good examples as a true head (not COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF or DICTATOR) leading; spiritually and in all other ways to make a successful family and home. Any thoughts, words, or deeds that would demean or ridicule his wife should NEVER be uttered ESPECIALLY to or in the presence of third parties. A man is admonished never to attack, tear down or mentally frustrate his wife; this is neither in line with your God-given purpose nor in accordance with God’s commands. Many times, you may need patience and gentle understanding to correct her in love. The objective is to help her grow into a well rounded, truly beautiful and wise woman in the sense of Proverbs 31:30.

The practical role of husbands is that, they must be committed to the total well-being of their wives, most especially spiritual in holiness therefore, Bible study is encouraged between the couple and praying continually together (1 Corinthians 5:17) to avert and hinder satan’s cunningness (in the form of third parties: family members, ‘friends’ etc.) on the look-out for God-ordained-unions to destroy. Having regular discussions about the things of God (keep your focus on Jesus Christ; the author and finisher of faith) and many other topics brings the two closer and closer. A man should protect his entire family from the world’s moral filth as much as possible. In a few words; a man should put a protective fence around his love for his wife. There is no place for flirting with other women or encouraging third party 'advice' and influence; it is risky and inappropriate for a married man to continue or to form friendships with women other than his wife, unless his wife is fully included in such.

 Ecclesiastes 4:1

In a situation where the relationship has degenerated to a depth of, ‘beyond reconciliation’, then pray, pray and PRAY! The next question is TO LEAVE OR NOT TO LEAVE?

Pray for guidance as to the next and necessary steps to take. Where there is physical and mental abuse that could possibly lead to death, then it is advisable to separate to recuperate. God is not an author of confusion He will reveal to redeem.

God's word is perfect and he did not make a mistake when he started the first marital union between the man and the woman
Genesis 2:18... God’s personal decision to complete Adam was with A WOMAN!

21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.

23 And Adam said:

“This is now bone of my bones
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh....

"To leave or not to leave, still remains the question! This is my reality..."

Temi breathes a deep sigh as she grimaces painfully in retrospect about how things could have been for her if she had made a divine choice, maritally.  This journey down memory lane of the emotional tension and troubles right from onset, tears at the fabric of her very being; regretfully but in deep humility through it all, she thanks the Lord for being her 'Rock and Refuge, strength and lifter-up of her head'.

As she bravely holds back a tear that had been forcing its way from within her lacrimal glands(a smile etches on the corners of her mouth at the word...), the lacrimal glands are located above each eye. The tears flow down the surface of our eye to lubricate and protect it, and then drain into tiny holes (puncta) in the corners of our upper and lower eyelids. The tears then travel through the small canals in the lids (canaliculi) to a sac where the lids are attached to the side of the nose (lacrimal sac), then down a duct (the nasolacrimal duct) before emptying into our nose, where they evaporate or are reabsorbed.

... mmm! At least some other new thing is learnt in this whole process!
