There is a developer who has a plan to build a school on a lot adjoining the property of some concerned neighbors.  A school sounds like a good thing, except that the proposed school does not fit the topography of the land or the surrounding architecture.  It will increase traffic congestion in an area that cannot accommodate it.  The plan is inappropriate for the immediate neighborhood but the developer is determined to build anyway, because he has already invested tens of thousands of dollars in planning and blueprints.  He doesn't want that initial investment to be wasted; it exerts a powerful pull no matter how poor a choice it turns out to be and no matter how many residents and preexisting businesses are negatively impacted.  If blocked in his intended course of action he has spoken to the homeowners association about the likelihood of a lawsuit, or at least hinted at it, and the association is intimidated by that prospect. 
  Such is type of reasoning in the minds of many who reject the God and Savior revealed in the Bible.  They have so much of their lives invested in the hope or, should I say, wish that there is no absolute right and wrong and that there is no Creator to whom they will one day be accountable that it seems too late to backtrack.  They are presuming that they're accountable only to themselves and that they can therefore establish "develop"  their own right and wrong to suit themselves or live sanely with a reality in which nothing can be wrong.  They are then prepared to push ahead like the said "developer" regardless of the painful consequences that loom ahead.  They demand not to be "confused by the facts" of the evidence that is mounting before them.  "Don't try to stop me, God,"  they say in their hearts, "or I'll slap you with a lawsuit so big it will make even your head spin!"  Are you kidding me?  Maybe there's at least a little bit of this attitude in all of us.
  I think I hear guffaws of laughter somewhere....
